Description

February 03, 2016 – FREDERICKSBURG, Va.–(FranchisePOD.com)–Engineering For Kids (EFK), a leading supplemental education business designed to provide S.T.E.M. education and inspire students ages 4-14 by offering hands-on, discipline specific engineering activities, recently announced its first franchise deal in China with plans to open nearly 70 locations over the next 10 years.

Leading the expansion in China is Jason Zhu. Prior to joining EFK, Zhu worked in the R&D department for the No. 1 global banking company and was responsible for system innovation and banking product development. Zhu also has been running a chain store business for more than 10 years. Being a father of two boys, he has always been fascinated with science and technology – even inventing gadgets on his own.

While Zhu watched his sons grow up playing LEGOs and cars, he encouraged them to enroll in enrichment courses; however, the programs simply did not meet expectations in comparison to U.S. programs. While searching for a solution, Zhu discovered EFK and knew it was the perfect opportunity for him to introduce the brand in his homeland.

“Being a native to China and having a deeply rooted passion for S.T.E.M. education, I am confident Engineering For Kids has a great global potential for growth,” said Zhu. “China is a big market with a huge child population. Chinese parents are constantly searching for opportunities to enhance their children’s education and, as the Chinese government has begun putting an emphasis on innovated learning, the Engineering For Kids programs give us an opportunity to get kids excited about science and technology.”

Engineering careers are some of the fastest growing and highest demand careers available in the world today and inescapable in the future. Unfortunately, engineering is also one of the most abstract and challenging career paths a student can strive for. Due to a pent up fear of difficulty, students tend to steer away from engineering at a young age and grow up thinking they are incapable of considering engineering as a career choice. With a hands-on and entertaining approach to the learning process with EFK, the opportunity for success in S.T.E.M. is greater than ever before.

“Expanding into China is a very proud moment for Engineering For Kids,” said Dori Roberts, founder and CEO of EFK. “We’re excited to continue partnering with strong master franchise partners like Jason to penetrate untapped international markets and give children around the world an opportunity to explore various engineering disciplines, which could inspire them to pursue engineering careers in the future.”

EFK offers a proprietary curriculum that is extremely diverse with many opportunities to learn S.T.E.M. through content and technology based programs. Some examples of content-based programs include aerospace, mechanical, environmental, civil and chemical engineering. Technology-based programs include robotics, electronic game design, software and hardware engineering. With international success in 21 countries, representing more than 250,000 students, EFK is bringing a plethora of knowledge and experience to youth around the globe.
