Sport Clips Franchise Opportunities Success Stories
Throughout my 22+ years in the Home Medical Equipment Industry, both while working for larger organizations as well as working in my own business, I have held virtually every position that exists. I am really excited to take my experience growing a business in the healthcare sector and applying it to the business of hair care. I think that a lot of my healthcare sales skills translate quite nicely when coupled with the Sport Clips system. What I really like is that Sport Clips will allow me to ramp up my knowledge of this business quickly and give me the tools that I need to be successful.

One of our expectations when we bought the Sport Clips franchise was that we wanted to own a business, but didn’t want to be in it every day. Sport Clips allows us to spend 10 hours in our stores a week. It gives us the freedom to do what we want to do when we want to do it.

When we had the chance to meet everyone at the Sport Clips’ Discovery Day we knew that this was for us. The level of commitment from the franchisor to support the success of franchisees seemed to be second to none. In anything that we chose to do, we wanted to make sure that we remained “Client-Focused” and “Quality-Driven”. Everyone that we have worked with at Sport Clips has had this same mission and it’s unwavering… Now, five years later, we are currently working on opening our sixth Sport Clips and are more excited than ever about what the future holds!

I chose Sport Clips because of all the hair care concepts it had the most streamlined system. Sport Clips has a target niche that allows us to really focus on the experience that our ideal customer wants. We don’t have to try to be everything to everyone. Sport Clips is truly a semi-absentee business model. I spend very little physical time in any of my locations; this is a data rich concept. Between phone calls and live data metrics, I can tell exactly what is going on in each location.

One of the important factors for me when looking for a business opportunity was that I continue working my existing job while I grow the business and it didn’t require a lot of extra hours each week. I have kids involved in sports and I like to coach their teams and watch the games. Sport Clips allows me to do that.

When I left my corporate job in 2007, I was looking for a Franchise that would allow me the flexibility of time after the initial setup to pursue my passion of community involvement and Sport Clips was the Franchise that suited my business model. We currently have 4 stores and have expansion plans of at least 10 more stores in the next 3 years!
ARIF TAJ, TEAM LEADER
Sport Clips recognized me as franchisee of the year but this honor is not a reflection of me but of my stellar team. I’m only as good as the people underneath me. I promote from within. I train forward. I’m working to make everyone better. The help I get from the Sport Clips franchise makes a world of difference. The training tools at Sport Clips support faster growth, so much so that I am working to open a 10th store. I was looking for something different when I signed on with Sport Clips. I worked for the auto industry and “making a lot of money for someone else.” My wife and I looked at several franchises and liked what Sport Clips had to offer. We opened our first shop in 2009. While we grew the business and added more shops, I kept working my full-time auto job. I’m now focused solely on Sport Clips and my wife and I were recently able to celebrate our 10th anniversary with a trip to Aruba.
JEFF BURROUGHS, TEAM LEADER
I’m a 22 year Air Force Vet and bought a Sport Clips franchise with no prior experience running a salon or cutting hair. My wife and I researched dozens of franchise opportunities before settling on Sport Clips. It was a giant step for us because neither of us had any experience in either business or hair care. For us to do this, we needed to make sure we were comfortable enough to execute the game plan.
CHRIS PARKER, TEAM LEADER
What attracted me to Sport Clips was the commitment to training and the ability to have my Teams committed to referral marketing. Great client experience sets up referral marketing. That’s how you grow your Sport Clips business.
RON CHAMBERLAIN, AREA DEVELOPER
Our initial goal was to fund our children’s college education, ease out of Corporate America and become self-employed. We saw Sport Clips as an investment and it has enabled us to achieve more than we originally anticipated.
SARAH RALEY, TEAM LEADER

For us, working together to build out an area for Sport Clips has been a wonderful and rewarding experience. Also, having the opportunity to bring our two children into the business has allowed us to create something very special.
KEITH & LINDA KOSTEK, AREA DEVELOPERS

I chose Sport Clips because I like the model and the type of business. It’s simply hair care with an “MVP” experience. Haircuts are something that will always be needed.

I first took a part-time job as a stylist at Command Performance, owned at the time by the CEO of Sport Clips, Gordon Logan. When Mr. Logan sold the business, he started Sport Clips, a franchise specializing in men and boy’s haircuts. I continued my job as a stylist at Sport Clips and worked up the ranks to manager. With the support of my husband, I moved to Arizona and decided become a franchisee with Sport Clips and this year I opened my 4th store! I still work behind the chair because I love being around my clients and my team members. Sport Clips gave me the tools to succeed.

I’ve been a commission based financial advisor for 20 years and was a branch manager for 10 of those years. I’ve always dreamed of owning my own business and I’m looking to build something for the long term for my children. Owning a Sport Clips franchise allows me to diversify my investments and supplement my income. My experience in the financial services industry has prepared me for this challenge and I think all my varied experiences translate well into what it will take to be a successful franchisee.
MICHAEL & SHAWN HANDZO, TEAM LEADERS
After having served the US Government for a combined 50 years between us, we are ready for a new challenge. The Sport Clips business model is a proven one and they give you the training and support new business owners (like us) can use to set us up for success. Both of us have years of experience managing and training teams of diverse people and leading them to accomplish a common goal. Having a military background means we know how to follow a system.
KEN AND AMANDA BOWERS, TEAM LEADERS
My wife and I wanted to keep our careers. Sport Clips was one of the few business you could get that enabled you to do both and be successful at both.
SWAN TATE, TEAM LEADER
Since I have no experience in the haircutting industry, I was impressed how strong the franchise support was from training to coaching to even a National Huddle. Sport Clips’ strong values, culture and brand sold us on this investment. They truly understand who they are, what they have to offer and how to win in the marketplace.
